CLINIC: Horse Speak® especially for therapists

Because treatment is more than technique

3 full days delving into the language of the horse. For therapists who, during their treatments, do not just want to act, but also want to read, listen, and respond.

YESS… THEY ARE COMING BACK!

Sharon & Laura Wilsie (Horse Speak®) are coming to HSA.

And this time with an extra clinic especially for therapists.

Last year, Sharon & Laura were with us at the Hippo Sofia Academy with Horse Speak for Everyone.

And what a success that was… so many wonderful reactions, so much recognition, so many pennies dropped.

The organization was handled by Charmaine van de Berg back then. Because the impact was so great, Sharon & Laura are coming to the Netherlands again — now with something unique: a clinic especially for therapists.

What this clinic is about

During treatments, you don't just want to work technically well. You also want to be able to read a horse.

And even better: you also want to be able to answer in their language. Horses have been learning our language for as long as they have existed alongside us.

Now it is our turn. So that treatment is no longer an action… but a collaboration. A conversation.

Horse Speak is the connection between communication and bodywork

"Last year, I was introduced to Horse Speak for the first time. It moved me, because it felt like coming home. Since 2007, I have been trying to make people understand that horses want to be heard. That beneath behavior, tension, and compensation, there is often so much more. That horses are constantly telling us something, but that we often haven't learned to truly look and listen. Sharon and Laura Wilsie have shaped this into such a beautiful form that it clicked for me again during this clinic. I immediately saw why therapists should learn this, and that is why I immediately asked them if they would like to organize a clinic specifically for therapists. Many therapists are used to looking primarily at the body: where is the tension, where is a horse compensating, what feels tight, sensitive, or restricted?

But long before any work is done with the hands at all, a horse is already telling us a tremendous amount. Just not with words. Horses communicate constantly through subtle changes in posture, breathing, facial expression, softness in the eye, tension around the mouth, head and neck position, tail carriage, and the overall demeanor of the body. They show whether they feel safe, are holding tension, are shutting down, or are open to contact.

And that is precisely where Horse Speak becomes so valuable for therapists. When you learn to understand this language, you can connect much faster with a horse you have just met. You will not only see where the tension lies, but also why that tension might be there. Sometimes a horse is not yet ready to be touched in a specific spot. Sometimes it first needs more clarity, safety, or time. And sometimes the horse's entire posture changes simply because it finally feels understood. And that completely changes the quality of the bodywork.

A horse that feels safe relaxes more easily, and a body that relaxes allows much more. Horse Speak is therefore not just about communication. It is about the connection between communication and bodywork. It is about understanding what a horse is telling you even before you place your hands on its body. It is about seeing what is happening beneath the surface and learning how trust, safety, and connection can enhance the bodywork. deepen.

Because often the real treatment begins long before you touch the horse."
